To my mind, one of the key issues is highlighted by the text from the above page:
"As I make clear in my book, a hungry baby should never be left to cry, and must be fed, even if it is long before the recommended time."
This is fine and I have no problem with it. However, the concern is that people take the "recommended time" to be fixed and believe, wrongly, that no deviation from the recommended time should be allowed.
It's back to not having the confidence to vary a recipe as conditions demand. The book has a very defined schedule printed in it and people are taking the schedule litterally and exaclty and allowing for no leeway or modification for circumstance.
