The Education Secretary Alan Johnson should educate himself and read the research before declaring it's findings to be 'ludicrous'. I find this really offensive. It's a case of pursuing political dogma and ignoring the facts.

In setting a policy to offer 'wrap around care' for toddlers the government is offering to allow children to grow up with little contact with their parents except at weekends. This can't be good.
I think part of the problem is that we've forgotten to pay some attention to being happy and what it takes to be happy. Sure, we want a prosperous economy but at what emotional and developmental cost to the children that will make the next generation? Where is the balance to be found?
Does the government really want to offer services which the research show leads to anti-social, institutionalised toddlers?
