Sexing up HM, the Queen

So, the BBC releases (did it actually air?) a teaser trailer for a program about the Queen. As it turns our, the trailer has been cut to make it more exciting and show some drama. In being so cut, the trailer is not an accurate reflection of the program or events it trails.

The world of TV collapses because there's an untruth in the trailer. The Queen is not impressed with the mis-representation and great soul searching starts. TV exces are suspended and the company that made the trailer loses work from the BBC and ITV.

The real shock is not the discovery that trailers are often unrepresentative of the programs (and films) that they trail but that it's taken so long for anyone to complain. Good on you M'am!

How many times have you seen a trailer for a programme and on watching the programme been disappointed?

I think that the situation is even worse for movies. You see a trailer, go see the movie and the movie and the trailer bare little resemblance to each other.

I don't think the company that made the trailer are any more or less to blame that the TV and film industries. They're unlucky in that the issue blew up on their watch so it's their head on the block.

Honesty in trailers, that's what I want!
