I watched the LCROSS mission on NASA TV (webcast) today.
There seemed to be some surprise about the lack of an impact flash when the rocket stage was expected to hit the crater. At about the same time one of the images (IR I imagine) showed a bright red circle in the top left of the TV image. Was this the rocket stage impacting some way from the target crater?
