I see that a JavaScript library called gordon has been released which when called can be used to play a Flash file on browsers that don't support Flash. A big target for this is the iPhone.
To date, there has been no Flash support on the iPhone even though lots of people would like it.
So, I got to pondering why this might be. Possible reasons include
- high cpu usage - slow displays and shorter battery life
- high bandwidth usage - all those swf files
- music streaming - why buy that song on iTunes when you can play it on YouTube
I think the third possibility is the most interesting...
