What else do you do with a hill?

Here's interesting article in the Telegraph about how some meat substitutes are worse for the environment than meat. Things like tofu need quite a lot of land to grow on, lots of processing and then shipping.

I do think we should return to traditional, low intensity farming of animals rather than the big feed lots that mass produce meat.

Think of a Welsh, Scottish or English hill farm. The hills are wet and grassy and you can't do much on them. So why not put sheep on them? Think about the water meadows, at least the ones that have not been built on. They grow lush grass and are a good place for cows. Plus, no big insurance claims when they flood!

At home, we prefer to eat a lesser amount of better, more expensive meat that lots of cheap meat. The cheap meat simply does not taste as good and is typically produced in conditions that I don't think animals should be kept in.
