Scottish Independence and devo-max

Scottish independence is currently a hot topic.

The SNP are complaining about Westminster interfering in what they see as a Scottish matter.

I think there's a mix of matters here:

  1. Keeping the status quo is easy. Nothing changes to there's nothing to discuss. This is not what the SNP want.
  2. Full independence for Scotland is easy. Scotland goes it's own way as a separate nation with it's own government, currency, tax, public services, defence, foreign policy etc. Is see this as a purely Scottish matter. A people are entitled to self determination and if they chose to separate then that's their decision. I suspect this is what the SNP want but it seems most Scotts voters don't.
  3. Devo-max is where I see things being a shared matter. Devo-max is different to the current devolution and requires negotiation between the parties making it a matter for both governments. I suspect this is what most Scotts voters want but the SNP does not.
