In an effort to be fair to everyone government and society generally is introducing more and more rules to be followed and obeyed. These seem to replace shared morals, value and remove individual judgement. Not least because people can be biased.
However, the end result is that school children are denied lunch because of a £1.75 debt and kitchen staff say they were only 'abiding by the rules'. What's the difference between that and 'only following orders.'?
