Non-professionals that is.
When people find out I'm a parent, various names come up so I usually tell them a little of my history as it does rather colour my opinions.
I'm often treated with awe. Awe by proxy I call it.

OK, you've piqued my curiosity - it what ways does it colour your opinions?
ReplyDelete*In* what ways. Jeez! Believe it or not, I used to be the hottest proofreader around. It was an inborn skill. It's true - having a baby does rot your brain...
ReplyDeleteI can't really claim to approach how to parent with an open mind. Like everyone else, I carry over my own experience of my parents into my parenting but, unlike most, I also carry over grown up with my grandfather. I spent a lot of time talking to him about attachment theory and in quite a lot of depth. In effect, private tuition.
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean that you've got lots of gems of insider knowledge that you'll be sharing with us in future posts?
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious - what do you think of the Attachment Parenting movement?
Hmmm. Do I have any gems? In truth I think not. Pretty much everything (I'm not going to commit my self by saying all!) my grandfather thought was put into his books and publications. What I did get was a good understanding of attachment theory and why my grandfather came to the view that he did.
